FAQ

✧ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where can I read it?
The Mythseeker will be available for free at TheMythseeker.com, with new chapters released bi-weekly. Early access, behind-the-scenes content, and exclusive art will be on Patreon. There’s also an expanding archive of worldbuilding, illustrations, and short stories!

What format is this story in?
The Mythseeker is an illustrated novel series—each chapter includes vivid artwork that brings scenes, creatures, and character moments to life. From eerie rituals to quiet slice-of-life, it blends prose and art for a rich, immersive read. An audiobook version is also in development.

Is it episodic or one long story?
Both! The story spans four major “cycles” (like seasons), each broken into volumes. While the overarching plot builds over time, each volume includes mini-arcs, mysteries, and character-driven adventures.

What age is this for?
Recommended for ages 15+. Contains themes like trauma, blood/violence, swearing, and occasional suggestive content. Content and trigger warnings will be listed per chapter.

Do I need to know mythology to enjoy it?
Not at all! If you do, you’ll catch nods to Irish folklore, cosmic horror, Eastern alchemy, and more. But the deeper lore is there to enrich the experience, not gatekeep it. There’s also plenty of fairy dust, ghost sheets, and frogs with opinions.

When and where does The Mythseeker take place?
The story begins in modern-day Ireland but quickly expands across a semi-fictionalized version of our world—from England and France to Mongolia, and Louisiana. Expect magical domains, locked gaols, Otherworlds, and places where gods and monsters still walk. Some doors only open for those who are willing to see the world differently.

What kind of magic system is this?
Magic in The Mythseeker blends structured rules with mystery. At its core, magic, myth, and monsters are intricately connected to leylines, planes of reality, and cosmic balance. It brings to life the idea that magic is deeply intertwined with one’s identity, perspective, and belief—but some things remain better felt than explained.

Who makes this?
Hi, I’m Susannah Casey-Livengood (she/they), the writer and illustrator of The Mythseeker. I’m 30ish year-old Appalachian sleep deprived druid-hermit who loves storytelling that mixes grief with wonder, comedy with dread, and magic with meaning.

So you do it all?
Currently, yes! All prose, art, worldbuilding, editing, and graphics are handmade by me (unless stated otherwise). I do this with the support of beta readers, friends, and the incredible creative community I’ve been lucky to find.

How long have you been working on this?
Nearly two years full-time—usually 40–60 hours a week. My schedule is flexible due to chronic health conditions, but it’s safe to say this is where most of my time and energy go.

What tools and programs do you use?
Tech: Wacom Cintiq 22HD, iPad Pro+Apple Pencil, MacBook Air, Windows PC (Ryzen 5 5600X, 32GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER)
Art: Clip Studio Paint EX, Photoshop, Procreate, Storyboarder, Blender
Writing: Scrivener, Google Docs, PureRef, ProWritingAid, Grammarly
And, of course, chaotic sketchbooks and cursed purple sticky notes.

Is this your full-time job?
Yes! I support myself through commissions, freelance art, tutoring, and The Mythseeker. Patreon helps cover costs like website hosting, art supplies, and other business expenses. Every little bit helps—the more support I have, the better I can focus on the project and care for myself. Thank you so much!

Will there be merch, prints, or other content?
Absolutely! Art prints, zines, digital extras, and hopefully physical volumes are in the works. Patreon followers get early access and free goodies! Someday, a Sheet plushie may haunt us all.

What’s your AI policy?
This world is all handmade! Do NOT use The Mythseeker content to train AI, generate derivative works, or republish excerpts without permission. I also avoid AI entirely in all materials.
